Responsibilities

·        Lead mechanical design and execution of large-scale data centre projects in India & globally.

·        Ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery.

·        Develop concept and detailed designs for HVAC, cooling, fire protection, plumbing, and ventilation.

·        Optimize critical cooling systems for energy efficiency, redundancy, and sustainability.

·        Ensure compliance with Indian and international (ASHRAE, ISO, etc) standards.

·        Collaborate with architectural, structural, electrical, and ICT teams for seamless project integration.

·        Design high-density cooling solutions for hyperscale & colocation data centres.

·        Develop air & liquid cooling strategies (DX, CRAC/CRAH, chiller plants, liquid immersion, evaporative cooling).

·        Conduct thermal load calculations, CFD analysis, and airflow optimization.

·        Review and approve Basis of Design (BOD), technical specifications, and compliance reports.

·        Guide equipment selection, ensuring adherence to reliability and redundancy requirements.

·        Drive sustainability initiatives, including free cooling, water conservation, and low-PUE designs.

·        Engage with clients, consultants, and project teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.

·        Represent Deerns in technical meetings, design reviews, and client workshops.

·        Mentor and develop junior engineers & designers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

·        Identify business opportunities and support growth strategies for data centre projects in India.

·        B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

·        15+ years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 10+ years in data centre projects.

·        Must have handled at least full-cycle Indian data centre project, from concept to commissioning.

·        Strong knowledge of HVAC, critical cooling, fire protection, and mission-critical mechanical systems.

·        Expertise in ASHRAE, ISHRAE, ISO, along with international standards.

·        Proficiency in CFD analysis, thermal modelling, and energy simulation tools.

·        Hands-on experience with 3D modelling software incl. AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, ACC.

·        Familiarity with SCADA/BMS for mechanical system integration.

·        Proven ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams.

·        Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

·        Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.

·        Agile and adaptable to diverse Indian & international project scopes.
