If you are, then an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (electrically biased) to join a leading FMCG/Animal Feed manufacturing business. You will work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Dugdale Nutrition Ltd is a modern family business, leading the UK’s ruminant sector by delivering outstanding products, people, partnerships and performance. We currently have two production facilities based in Clitheroe and Speke that run 24/7.
Main Purpose
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all plant and facilities, including accurate use and updating of the CMMS system. Duties include carrying out reactive breakdown repairs and completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), with accountability for all follow‑up actions.
The role involves participation in root cause analysis (RCA) and project teams where required, and ongoing liaison with Supervisors and managers across both Maintenance and Operations teams.
The on‑call rota operates on a one‑in‑four basis (subject to change depending on headcount) and covers both the Speke and Clitheroe sites. A company vehicle will be provided whilst on call.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in line with Health & Safety, food safety and environmental standards.
- Ensure all activities comply with current HSE and company guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and review of Risk Assessments and safe systems of work.
- Maintain engineering areas to a high GMP standard.
Maintenance & Engineering Duties
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machinery.
- Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Dismantle equipment, replace defective parts and reassemble machinery using hand and power tools.
- Adjust and maintain functional parts and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect components using precision measuring instruments (e.g. callipers, micrometres) to determine wear and required tolerances.
Fabrication & Technical Skills
- Fabricate and repair parts using workshop machinery and tools.
- Welding capability desirable but not essential.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, manuals and engineering specifications.
Communication & Teamwork
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate faults and issues clearly and promptly, including estimated repair times and updates.
- Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting actions, issues and ongoing requirements.
Stock & Resource Management
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of parts, tools and supplies.
- Support ordering and verification of parts and equipment as required.
- Use equipment and materials efficiently to minimise waste and control costs.
Continuous Improvement & Development
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through training, workshops and industry updates.
- Provide maintenance-related information and support when required.
- Contribute to team objectives and continuous improvement activities.
Person Specification
Essential
· Apprenticeship-trained engineer or equivalent qualification, with a multi-skilled background and electrical bias.
· Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
· Knowledge and practical application of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
· Experience using CMMS systems, fault-finding techniques and structured reporting methods.
· Ability to follow planned maintenance schedules and respond effectively to breakdowns.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
· High attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards in both reactive and proactive maintenance.
Desirable
· Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling tasks safely.
