Location: Guaynabo, Puerto Rico | Sector: International Banking | Education: Bachelor's / Master's | Experience: 7–10 Years About the Role We are seeking a strategic and technically grounded IT Operations Manager to lead the technology infrastructure of a licensed international bank in Puerto Rico. Reporting directly to the CTO, this leader will ensure the continuity, efficiency, and security of all IT operations that underpin critical banking and regulatory functions. This is a high-impact, senior-level opportunity for an IT professional who thrives in regulated financial environments, understands the stakes of 24/7 banking infrastructure, and knows how to lead a cross-functional technology team with precision and vision. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Management Oversee installation, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware, software, networks, applications, and servers — both on-premises and cloud-based (physical, virtual, local, and remote). Continuously monitor system performance; proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues; recommend improvements to optimize reliability and throughput. Security, Backup & Compliance Administer security operations including access controls, firewalls, and data encryption to protect sensitive financial information. Ensure full compliance with banking regulations, international standards, and IT governance frameworks (ITIL, ISO 27001, COBIT, or equivalent). Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Develop, maintain, and regularly test DR and BCP plans to ensure rapid incident response and uninterrupted service availability. Lead incident escalation and resolution efforts, driving root cause analysis and sustainable remediation plans. Vendor & Contract Management Negotiate and manage contracts with IT service providers — software vendors, telecom companies, and cloud platforms — ensuring SLA adherence and cost optimization. Strategic Planning & Budgeting Partner with the CTO and Senior Management to align technology strategy with business goals; manage the IT department budget and identify cost-efficiency opportunities. Present periodic technology status reports to the CTO and Technology Committee, including project updates, system initiatives, and incident remediation plans. Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team — providing technical direction, professional growth support, and a culture of operational excellence. Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and modernization initiatives. Requirements Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience 7–10 years of progressive IT operations experience within a bank or financial services organization. Proven track record managing critical banking infrastructure, core banking systems (CBS), and SWIFT environments. Hands-on experience with ITIL, ISO 27001, COBIT, or comparable IT governance frameworks. Familiarity with international banking regulations and compliance requirements.
