Role overview
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support data collection, quality assurance, analysis and reporting across programs. Working with the M&E Specialist, the Officer will translate program evidence into accessible reports, stories, infographics and knowledge products that support organizational learning, decision-making and external communication.
Job description
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Coordinate routine data collection and entry across project interventions, ensuring that data are complete, accurate and timely.
- Maintain up-to-date M&E databases and ensure proper filing and secure storage of questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets and supporting documentation.
- Conduct regular data verification and quality checks, identify discrepancies, and work with program teams to resolve them.
- Support survey planning and implementation, including logistics, data collection, cleaning and analysis.
- Track project progress against agreed indicators and targets, highlighting achievements, gaps and emerging issues.
- Prepare regular M&E updates and contribute accurate data and analysis to monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual reports.
- Support capacity building and mentorship for program and field staff on data collection, reporting and the use of M&E tools.
- Compile and analyze participant feedback and make findings accessible for program improvement and decision-making.
Evidence storytelling and visual communication
- Develop evidence-based stories and case studies that connect participant experiences with program findings, outcomes and lessons learned.
- Produce infographics, charts, visual summaries and presentations that communicate qualitative and quantitative findings to different audiences.
- Coordinate with program teams to collect participant experiences, quotes and supporting evidence for stories and learning products.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to adapt M&E findings into content for reports, newsletters, digital platforms and other communication materials.
- Verify the accuracy of data and claims used in communication materials, with technical review from the M&E Specialist.
- Maintain an organized repository of verified statistics, stories, case studies and visual products for reporting and communication.
- Ensure informed consent, confidentiality, data protection and respectful representation when collecting and sharing participant information.
Learning and knowledge sharing
- Document best practices, implementation challenges and lessons learned in collaboration with program teams.
- Prepare learning briefs and accessible summaries of monitoring, survey and evaluation findings.
- Support reflection and knowledge-sharing sessions that help teams interpret findings and identify practical actions.
- Track agreed follow-up actions and document how evidence informs program adjustments.
Required qualifications and skills
- A bachelor’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, data science, economics, social sciences, development studies or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage..
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, data analysis or program reporting is required.
- Knowledge of M&E methodologies, indicator tracking and data quality assurance.
- Experience developing data collection tools and collecting, cleaning and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with digital data collection or statistical analysis tools.
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to translate findings into clear reports, stories and summaries for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to develop charts, infographics and presentations using Canva, PowerPoint or similar tools.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across M&E, program and communications teams.
- Understanding of informed consent, confidentiality and responsible use of participant data.
- Experience producing evidence-based stories, case studies, learning briefs or other knowledge products.
- Familiarity with data visualization or dashboard tools.
- Experience supporting staff training and facilitating discussions on program findings.
Travel
Should be open to occasional travel as needed.
