Our client drives the delivery of all digital channels for employees and individual customers, ensuring seamless, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences. The mission is to make banking easy, efficient, and customer-centric while continuously improving the digital ecosystem. The environment is fully Agile, with all ceremonies in place to facilitate smooth deliveries. As a Tribe Release Engineer (TRE), you will play a critical coordination role, ensuring end-to-end release management across approximately 30 squads. Your expertise in release strategy, dependency management, and continuous delivery will be key to maintaining operational quality and delivery predictability. Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Define and maintain the Tribe’s release strategy in collaboration with the Tribe Management Team.
- →Develop and manage consolidated release plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical constraints.
- →Oversee release scopes and timelines, balancing priorities, risks, and dependencies across squads.
- →Define and coordinate release calendars, ensuring transparency and synchronization with other tribes and external stakeholders.
- →Assess risks and define contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions in deployments.
- →Plan, control, and execute deployments across different non-prod and prod environments, ensuring smooth transitions.
- →Orchestrate deployment activities, working closely with DevOps, Test Engineers, and Squad Members.
- →Monitor and protect the integrity of the production environment, ensuring zero downtime and minimal risk.
- →Promote configuration management best practices to ensure consistency in service component installations.
- →Act as the guardian of operational quality, collaborating with Test Engineers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Architects to enhance delivery predictability and quality.
- →Coach and support squads in release management best practices, fostering autonomy and maturity in delivery processes.
- →Facilitate knowledge sharing on CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, and dependency management.
- →Mentor teams in risk assessment, deployment planning, and post-release validation.
- →Act as a bridge between technical teams, business stakeholders, and other tribes to ensure smooth releases.
- →Manage external dependencies with other Tribe Release Engineers, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
- →Align with business and IT leaders to ensure releases meet strategic and regulatory requirements.
- →Communicate release status, risks, and milestones clearly to all stakeholders.
- →Resolve conflicts in priorities or timelines, ensuring on-time and high-quality deliveries.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent by experience) in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years in Release Management or similar roles like DevOps or Deployment Manager.
- Strong knowledge of Release & Configuration Management (version control, environment management, rollback strategies).
- Release Orchestration (application packaging, runbooks, release pipelines/workflows).
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Maven, Git, SVN, Ansible, Docker, Nexus, CDD).
- Interest in market evolutions concerning continuous delivery and active embedding of these techniques inside the tribe (preferable).
- Experience in large enterprise environments (complex IT landscapes, multiple stakeholders).
- Background in digital transformation projects (scaling Agile, modernizing legacy systems).
- Hands-on Agile experience (working in squads, tribes, or scaled Agile frameworks).
- Team player – Thrives in collaborative, Agile environments.
- Proactive & solution-oriented – Takes initiative, anticipates risks, and drives solutions.
- Strong communicator – Clearly articulates plans, risks, and dependencies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Structured & organized – Manages multiple releases, timelines, and priorities efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with a big-picture mindset – Balances precision in execution with strategic alignment.
- Stakeholder management – Builds trust and alignment across diverse teams and leadership levels.
- Resilient & adaptable – Handles pressure, ambiguity, and changing priorities effectively.
