Assistant Teacher - Junior Preschool | West 85 Campus

OVERVIEW:

Do you love working with toddlers and helping them build confidence, independence and new skills during some of their most important early years?

Fueling Brains Academy is hiring an Assistant Teacher for our Junior Preschool Program at our West 85th Campus in Calgary.

You’ll work with children aged 19 months–3 years alongside our Lead Teachers, providing consistent care while supporting learning across our Left Brain, Right Brain and Movement environments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Support children aged 19 months–3 years through play, learning and daily routines.
• Assist Lead Teachers with developmentally appropriate activities and classroom programming.
• Encourage language, independence, social-emotional development, curiosity and self-regulation.
• Support hands-on routines including diapering/toileting, meals, rest time, dressing and transitions.
• Observe children's development and contribute to daily notes and documentation.
• Build warm, professional relationships with children and families.
• Maintain active supervision and a safe, clean and engaging classroom.
• Collaborate closely with Lead Teachers and the wider educator team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Alberta Level 2 or Level 3 ECE Certification – required.
• Minimum 1 year of Canadian experience working with toddlers/children aged approximately 19 months–3 years in a licensed childcare or early learning environment.
• Strong understanding of toddler development and social-emotional needs.
• Comfortable with all hands-on care routines, including diapering and toileting.
• Experience supporting play-based learning and classroom activities.
• Patient, nurturing, reliable and confident working in a busy toddler environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Experience with Montessori, Reggio Emilia, FLIGHT or inquiry-based learning is an asset, but not required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR, or willingness to obtain.
• Comfortable participating in indoor/outdoor active play and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Flexibility to work scheduled opening or closing shifts as required.
