Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Lead Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our Produce and Central Processing departments. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, freshness, availability, and presentation, while driving sales performance and minimizing waste.



The successful candidate will also play a key leadership role in developing and supporting team members through coaching, training, and performance management. They will lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence, while ensuring all operations align with company standards and core values.



Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee all daily operations of the Produce Department, ensuring consistent execution of standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, including scheduling, performance management, absence management and ongoing training.
  • Maintain exceptional produce quality by conducting regular inspections, removing substandard items, and ensuring freshness at all times.
  • Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock and spoilage.
  • Implement and enforce proper stock rotation practices (FIFO) and handling procedures.
  • Monitor and control shrink through effective waste management, accurate forecasting, and proper storage techniques.
  • Design, execute, and maintain attractive, full, and well-organized produce displays that meet merchandising standards and drive sales.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product labeling, including country of origin and PLU compliance.
  • Build strong knowledge of produce items, including seasonality, sourcing, and quality indicators, and share this knowledge with the team and customers.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, answering product-related questions, and resolving concerns promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, including proper temperature control and storage conditions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries and product quality standards are met.
  • Analyze sales performance, trends, and margins to make informed decisions on ordering, promotions, and product mix.
  • Support store-wide initiatives, promotions, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Uphold company core values at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.


Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within a produce or grocery retail environment.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of fresh produce, including handling, storage, grading, and seasonality.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, control shrink, and drive sales performance.
  • Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse teams and customers.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic retail systems (POS, inventory tools).
  • Able to work in a cold environments, and able to lift, bend, push and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Reliable, dependable, and flexible with scheduling, including weekends and holidays.


Work Hours:

40 hour work week; however must be willing to work shift work and be flexible to work evenings, weekends and Public Holidays.
