We're looking for a technical manager who can see the whole picture across cloud, infrastructure, security and lead teams to run it well. This is not a deep-specialist role. We need someone who understands enough of each domain to ask the right questions, spot risk early, make sound trade-offs, and connect the work of specialists into one reliable, secure and cost-efficient operation.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Manage a cross-functional team of specialists, and understand what motivates each discipline and how to get them working as one team, not in silos.
- Hire, coach, and retain talent, and build clear ownership so each domain has a strong lead.
- Build a culture of accountability, blameless learning, and calm execution under pressure.
- Own the availability, performance, and scalability of cloud and on-prem/hybrid infrastructure.
- Define and track SLAs/SLOs, uptime, incident response, and change management.
- Lead major incident management, including communication with stakeholders during and after outages.
- Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning, and make sure they're actually tested.
- Guide automation and DevOps practices (IaC, CI/CD) at a direction level, working through the team.
- Partner with or lead security functions on cloud security posture, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and patching.
- Make sure security is built into operations from the start, not added after.
- Drive audit readiness and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, SOX-ITGC)
- Own risk registers and translate technical risk into business language for leadership.
- Act as the single point of accountability for cloud and infrastructure operations with leadership.
- Manage vendors, managed service providers, licenses, and contracts.
- Set and maintain operational processes, policies, and documentation that scale.
- Balance competing priorities across security, cost, speed, and reliability, and make those trade-offs transparent.
Requirements
~1 min read- 5–10 years of experience, including 3+ years managing technical teams
- A generalist who connects the dots between security, infra, operations, and cost, and sees how one decision affects the others.
- Strong ownership, excellent communication
- Good understanding of AWS / Azure / GCP services, architecture, and operating models
- DevOps knowledge: understands CI/CD, IaC, and containers well enough to guide and evaluate the team's work
- Practical understanding of security (IAM, cloud security posture, vulnerability management, audit frameworks), operations (ITIL/ITSM, incident/change management, monitoring and observability)
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Certifications like AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, FinOps Certified Practitioner, CISSP/CISM/CCSP, or ITIL.
- Experience consolidating siloed teams or setting up a cloud operations or FinOps function from scratch.
