We’re looking for Assemblers to join our Assembly team and help support our business growth in Avon, CT.  Lightera provides the necessary training to allow for growth in the role, and invests in your future. This position is responsible for assembling medical parts/components and specialty fiber optic sub-components and products to meet production and Quality requirements. The selected candidates will work closely with other Assemblers, Technicians and Engineers in the area, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform assigned tasks consistently, including a variety of basic, intermediate, and advanced fiberoptic assembly processes
• Work independently or as a team member at assigned workstation and change to different workstation as directed by area leader
• Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and clean room standards where applicable (5S)
• Notify support personnel of equipment/process problems in a timely manner in order to minimize down time and maximize efficiency and yield
• Responsible for product quality as defined by established procedures and product drawings
• Identify and trouble shoot problems with guidance of area support personnel
• Maintain consistent output from a variety of advanced process equipment. (i.e. polishers, plating equipment, cleavers, etc)
• Assist in the editing of procedures, drawings, and related manufacturing documents
• Aide Engineering in the development of new products/prototypes and transition them into production
• Train, lead, and assist other operators as required
• Support and improve production processes
• Support continuous improvement efforts

Key qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of Assembly manufacturing Experience
• Basic and Intermediate Math Skills
• Familiar with various hand tools and measuring devices
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures
• Ability to write procedures and troubleshooting guides
• Ability to effectively train and mentor others
• Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing
• Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and technical issues
