Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $19.00-$20.00 per hour depending on experience

Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys keeping facilities running at peak performance? We're seeking a Facilities Technician to join our brand-new cannabis cultivation facility in Gainesville, Florida supporting our Surterra Wellness market. In this role, you'll help maintain critical building systems, ensure a safe working environment, and support daily operations that contribute to the success of our cultivation team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys tackling a variety of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance challenges.


Responsibilities

As a Facilities Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the facility and ensuring operational excellence by:

  • Ensuring all personal, facility, and departmental safety standards are consistently met.
  • Operating, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining building components and systems, including electrical, HVAC, overhead doors, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs, and validating successful operation after maintenance.
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance of pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, compressors, laboratory equipment, and other mechanical systems.
  • Repairing and maintaining facility structures based on work orders and operational needs.
  • Performing basic plumbing repairs, including fixture installations, valve repairs, and pipeline maintenance.
  • Performing basic electrical maintenance and repairs.
  • Completing preventative maintenance tasks on mechanical tools and electronic testing equipment.
  • Accurately documenting maintenance activities and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assisting with additional facility maintenance projects and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience maintaining and repairing building systems, equipment, and structures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency using test meters and diagnostic equipment
  • Journeyman Class B, Systems Contractor Class C, or Systems Technician Class D certification
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
  • Experience with motors, electrical controls, lighting systems, gas systems, and commercial building equipment
  • Completion of a maintenance vocational/technical program or recognized apprenticeship 
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Exposure to bright lighting where eye protection may be required
  • Exposure to cannabis odor
  • Exposure to direct plant contact; some individuals may experience allergies
  • Exposure to moderate heat and humidity
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods
  • Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms or scaffolding when necessary
