SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Bookkeeper is to provide bookkeeping and accounting support to the Finance Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps records of financial transactions for organization, using calculator and computer.
Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts.
Prepares annual budgets and reconciles actual expenses to budget monthly.
Prepares and distributes monthly invoices to funding sources.
Enters monthly cash receipts, journal entries, and accounts payables in accounting software system.
Answers all vendor inquiries.
Analyzes vendor accounts and negotiates extended terms with vendors when cash is restricted.
Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
Reconciles and balances accounts.
Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger.
Compiles reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
Ability to maintain poise and self-control in crisis situations.

Exhibits excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to focus and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies and to be cooperative in managing referrals.

Capable of being able to maintain a professional relationship with all entities of people (staff, Board Members, officials, and the general public).
Any and all other duties as assigned by the Chief Finance Officer and/or Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other qualifications required include the ability to interact well with others, work in a high stress environment, work in a fast-pace environment, have the ability to prioritize and multi-task, be able to resolve interpersonal conflicts and have the ability to work with difficult clients.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s Degree is required. Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to do basic business and accounting related mathematical procedures.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Kentucky Driver’s License. Required to attain all training and certifications as required by Finance Officer, LKLP Executive Director, LKLP Board of Directors and federal and state government funding sources.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
Bookkeeper must be able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines accordingly. Bookkeepers have separate work stations that must be kept well organized. Must be able to meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks in a timely fashion. Must be able to communicate well with others.
