Senior Optical Application Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

1.Drive technical sales and marketing activities to support the effective design-in of Luminus products through reference designs and customer support.

2.Provide expert technical optics support to Luminus customers, addressing field application issues, troubleshooting optical system performance, supporting system solutions design-in, and managing optical ECO-system partners.

3.Engage with customers and channel partners to ensure successful product integration. 

4.Ideate new optical concepts for the product development team, focusing on all aspects of component and module design. 

5.Create highly effective technical collateral in cooperation with the product marketing team, including application notes, white papers, PowerPoint training modules, performance calculators, Help Center articles, and reference designs that demonstrate the value proposition and competitive advantage of Luminus products for target applications.

6.Support the marketing team by conducting competitive advantage analysis to strengthen sales efforts. Collaborate with marketing to shape product definitions by proposing innovative optical solutions based on customer feedback and specific use cases.

7.Collaborate with sales to define technical training sessions for Luminus sales teams and channel partners.

8.Assist in the RMA process by evaluating if the customer’s optical design is sound and in line with Luminus design guidelines. Generate optics design files required for customer design activities.

Qualifications:

1.3-5 years experience

2.Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Optics and Photonics Science

3.Extensive optical design experience and skills using SolidWorks, LightTools, Zmax, TracePro software.

4.Optical metrology.

5.Computer language, e.g. Python.

6.Working knowledge of LED package, LED quality/process validation, and technical fields of LED lighting products including thermal, electrical driver and optics.

7.English communication skills is a plus.
