Summary
Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is a private school serving Grades Pre-kindergarten through 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN. Our vision is for every Maranatha student to be highly educated, Christ-centered, and biblically anchored world changers.
MCA has an opening for an athletic director for the 2026-27 school year. This position serves as the senior leader of Maranatha Christian Academy's athletic programs and is responsible for providing leadership, administration, and operational oversight for all middle school and high school athletics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
- Meet daily with Assistant Athletic Director
- Oversees and evaluates all head coaches
- Represent MCA in Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), North Suburban Parochial League (NSPSL), and Skyline Conference by attending meetings and staying updated on rule changes
- Promote MCA athletics at various school functions (e.g. upper school new student orientation, Maranatha Mornings etc.)
- Assist in the administration of school and league/association policies and procedures
- Monitor school athletic programs
- Make final decision on cancellation or postponement of contracted contests and practices due to poor weather conditions
- Select, interview, hire, train and evaluate all athletic coaches
- Coordinate with business office to issue coaching contracts; submit roster of coaches prior to each season
- Submit end of season coach’s evaluations to business office
- Develop and manage annual athletic department budget
- Responsible for managing and monitoring monthly and yearly department financial spreadsheet
- Responsible for oversight of department registration fee collections
- Ensure all expenditures are within the approved budget and is final approver of department expenditures
- Responsible for monitoring athletic supplies, equipment, and uniforms
- Develop game schedules; arrange appropriate field and gym practice times
- Determine scholastic eligibility of all students for athletic teams as designated in the Parent/Student Manual
- File rosters for athletic eligibility with the MSHSL
- Resolve conflicts within the athletic department
- Schedule and supervise site managers for home athletic contests and oversee programs for home events
- Communicate to the business office the need for repair of gymnasium
- Supervise volunteers managing home game ticket sales
- Serve as site manager at appropriate events
- Maintain inventory of all athletic equipment and uniforms
- Assist in coordinating tournament activities in the Skyline
- Promote sportsmanship throughout the athletic program
- Assist college and career counselor and parents in college athletic recruitment process
- Serve as liaison with Booster Club, if applicable
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides strategic leadership and direct supervision for all athletic department personnel, including coaches, athletic staff, and volunteers. Holds primary responsibility for building, developing, and sustaining a highly effective coaching and athletic staff committed to advancing the mission of Maranatha Christian Academy through athletics. Exercises substantial discretion and independent judgment in personnel matters, including recruitment, hiring, assignment of duties, performance management, professional development, recognition, corrective action, and termination recommendations. Establishes clear standards of excellence, fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, resolves complex personnel issues, and ensures departmental leadership practices reflect the mission, values, and strategic priorities of the school.

Education and/or Experience
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Registered with NIAAA (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association), MNIAAA (Minnesota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association), Licensed with the MSHSL (Minnesota State High School League).
