Civil Estimator (Rochester, NY)

• →Analyze bid documents, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates.
• →Prepare and submit competitive project proposals aligned with HY’s operational focus and profitability objectives.
• →Partner with the Chief Estimator to develop scope strategies, evaluate project risks, and establish pricing approaches.
• →Support Project Managers, Procurement teams, and Executives throughout buyouts and final contract negotiations.
• →Assist Project Managers with project status reviews, scope clarifications, and change order pricing support.
• →Estimate construction costs for both public plan-and-spec projects and negotiated private work with partially completed design documents.
• →Manage estimating assignments from start to finish, ensuring thorough, accurate, and comprehensive project estimates.
• →Develop proposals that clearly outline assumptions, allowances, value-engineering opportunities, and alternates.
• →Coordinate with equipment suppliers and material vendors to obtain pricing that aligns with project requirements and budgets.
• →Take full ownership of the estimating process, including client communication, proposal development, and project handoff.
• →Maintain and track estimating activities, project data, and pipeline information within Top Builder.
• →Keep estimating databases, bid logs, and cost libraries accurate and up to date.
• →Attend pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and jobsite visits to support accurate project evaluation and pricing.

• Strong technical understanding of civil construction methods, practices, and related scopes of work.
• Proficient in estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and construction cost analysis.
• Ability to accurately interpret construction drawings, contracts, specifications, and bid documents.
• Solid financial and analytical acumen with the ability to support and maintain profitability goals.
• Effective and professional communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Consistently demonstrates professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct across all internal and external interactions.
