Martin Concrete Construction is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Operations Manager – Mission Critical to support some of the most complex and schedule-driven concrete construction projects in the country. This role will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for safety operations across mission-critical projects, including data centers, power generation facilities, advanced manufacturing plants, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.



As a Safety Operations Manager, you will serve as a key partner to Operations, Project Management, Superintendents, and Onsite Safety Coordinators, ensuring that Martin Concrete's commitment to safety excellence is upheld on every project. This position is ideal for a safety leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys mentoring field personnel, and is passionate about building a world-class safety culture.



This position may be based out of one of Martin Concrete's regional offices; however, significant travel and extended project-site assignments should be expected based on project requirements.



What You'll Do

As a Safety Operations Manager, you will lead safety efforts across multiple Mission Critical projects while supporting Martin Concrete's commitment to delivering projects safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote Martin Concrete's safety culture across assigned Mission Critical projects.
  • Ensure all assigned projects maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and Martin Concrete safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly documented safety inspections and routine field audits on assigned projects.
  • Immediately communicate serious safety concerns, incidents, and violations to the Executive Safety Operations Manager and project leadership.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for Onsite Safety Coordinators and field personnel.
  • Partner with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Operations teams to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Review and maintain project safety documentation, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, procedures, and training programs tailored to Mission Critical environments.
  • Ensure all employees and subcontractors comply with OSHA requirements, PPE standards, and client-specific safety protocols.
  • Support and facilitate employee safety training, certifications, orientations, Toolbox Talks, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Investigate employee injuries, near misses, equipment damage, and vehicle incidents while ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions.
  • Monitor project safety performance metrics and assist in developing strategies to improve overall safety outcomes.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, operations meetings, safety leadership meetings, and project closeout reviews as the safety representative.
  • Coordinate safety resources, PPE, training materials, and project safety supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Leadership Team to maintain an exceptional safety culture and support favorable EMR performance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new safety initiatives, best practices, and continuous improvement programs throughout the Mission Critical Division.



What We're Looking For

We are looking for a safety professional who can effectively balance field leadership, compliance, coaching, and relationship-building while supporting large-scale, fast-paced construction projects.



Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of construction safety experience.
  • Experience supporting Mission Critical, industrial, manufacturing, power, energy, data center, or large-scale concrete construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and supporting geographically dispersed field teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring Safety Coordinators and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP, OSHA 500, or other advanced safety certifications preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.



Travel Requirements

This position requires frequent travel and may require full-time assignment to active Mission Critical project sites based on operational and contractual requirements. Candidates should be comfortable supporting projects throughout Martin Concrete's geographic footprint.
