Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this position\r\nexists is to perform skilled work in the installation and/or removal of communications,\r\naudio visual, electronic equipment, and various other vehicular components\r\nrelated to Law Enforcement for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle\r\nfleet. �Components include, but are not\r\nlimited to, radio communication equipment, Automatic Vehicle Locater (AVL) equipment,\r\nin-car video and audio recording devices, computer network interfacing for in-car\r\ncomputer systems, vehicular light bars and emergency lighting devices, brush\r\nguards, partitions, and gun-racks, along with the electronic control feature\r\ninstallation for each, and other equipment as designated by the Sheriff.� Incumbents may\r\nalso install electronic equipment for other County Departments and public\r\nsafety entities at the direction of the Sheriff. �Primary work responsibilities may include: assembling,\r\ninstalling, servicing, and repairing stationary and mobile equipment; testing\r\nequipment; performing preventative maintenance; driving to off-site locations\r\nto address malfunctions; and completing miscellaneous duties. Work is performed\r\nwith considerable independence in judgement and action.� This classification reports to the Support\r\nServices Supervisor, who provides general supervision. \r\n
Minimum Qualifications
\r\nHigh school diploma\r\nor GED and six (6) months of experience in the assembly, installation,\r\ndiagnosis, and/or service of communications, sound, vehicular and emergency\r\nlighting, law enforcement/safety, and/or navigation equipment in vehicles.� Applicable education (technical training in\r\nelectronics, auto mechanics or related field) may be substituted for experience\r\non a month-to-month ratio. \r\nNOTE:� Qualifying education,\r\ntraining and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and\r\nabilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n\r\n�\r\n\r\n\r\n
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid Alabama\r\nDriver’s License and insurable driving record. Must submit to criminal background\r\ncheck.� May be required to work nights,\r\nweekends, and holidays for emergencies and special events.\r\n�\r\n
