Introduction

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state’s casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran’s posts. Gaming in Maryland is a dynamic and growing business that operates around the clock, 365 days of the year.�\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

This position will be responsible for conducting in-depth investigations to determine the financial, regulatory and overall due diligence considerations for Casino/Sports Wagering operators, manufacturers, their officers, directors, employees, and other designated persons. This position will actively support the auditing and enforcement programs implemented to enhance the role of the Division within the gaming industry. The individual will uphold the policies, procedures and required compliance mandated by the Licensing Division to ensure the integrity of the position and the Division.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n �Examination, evaluation, and investigation of all applicants to provide assurance that applicants meet� �suitability requirements as established by law.\r\n �Conduct field investigations and interviews of applicants, witnesses, and other relevant parties to� �corroborate information disclosed on applications.\r\n �Develop comprehensive investigative reports that support the denial/approval of licensure. Maintain each case file and documentation within electronic database.\r\n �Prepare necessary documentation and correspondence for Commission meetings that supports auditing� �and enforcement programs.\r\n �Provides testimony before Hearings and Appeals, the Commission and courts of law or hearing forums.\r\n �Provides constituents, businesses, customers, and stakeholders with services in accordance with the State� �of Maryland Customer Service Promise.\r\n �Travels within Maryland, the United States and abroad to complete investigative assignments as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.\r\n\r\n\r\nEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.�\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:�\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.�\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.�\r\n3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Law Enforcement or Regulatory Compliance experience conducting in-depth investigations.\r\n2. Strong writing and communication skills.\r\n

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
