Main Purpose of Job

\r\nThe MSP Aviation Section Maintenance Technician I performs scheduled and unscheduled\r\nmaintenance on Aviation Command helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.� Troubleshoots problems and performs\r\nmaintenance on associated aircraft ground support equipment.� Ensures all aircraft are maintained,\r\nrepaired, and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and\r\nthe Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) regulations. Work performed effects\r\navailability of aircraft needed to support the Department’s mission.\r\n\r\n\r\nEmployees\r\nin this classification perform the above work independently, at an assigned\r\nHelicopter Section, and the duties include the capability to make airworthiness\r\ndecisions.�� ��\r\n FFFFFFFF00000000140000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000\r\n\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Perform �SEQ CHAPTER \\h \\r 1scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inspections on Aviation Command aircraft\r\nto maintain them in airworthy condition.\r\nPerform f SEQ CHAPTER \\h \\r 1light test and operational checks on all equipment after maintenance.\r\nResponds to aircraft related issues at assigned section. Performs inspections\r\nand/or supervises inspection in section/region. Coordinates upcoming maintenance\r\nevents. The work is performed at an assigned Helicopter Section; however,\r\nemployees may also work at the central maintenance repair facility or any other\r\nHelicopter Section if assistance is needed.\r\nCreates work orders, issues parts and repairs helicopter,\r\nindependently. Inspects work performed by other technicians, within the\r\nprivileges assigned by the MSP Quality Assurance Chief Inspector. Troubleshoot aircraft problems and discrepancies.� Repair and modify airframe and engine components.� Maintains superior knowledge of Maintenance\r\nManuals.� Navigates on-line and hard back\r\nMaintenance Manuals.\r\nPerform �SEQ CHAPTER \\h \\r 1Inspection Sheet entries, maintenance manual revisions and record keeping\r\nof aircraft logs.� Attends training\r\ncourses as they become available.\r\nMaintain proper �SEQ CHAPTER \\h \\r 1upkeep of tools and ground support equipment and\r\ntheir inventory.� Drive motor vehicles\r\nand perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the MSP Director\r\nof Maintenance (MSP DOM), MSP Maintenance Control Supervisors (MSP MCS), MSP\r\nLead Maintenance Technicians (MSP LMT), Officer in Charge of Mission Support\r\n(OIC) or Commander.\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience: Three years of helicopter maintenance experience and actively engagement in aircraft maintenance within the last six months OR more than three years of aircraft maintenance experience, one year of experience must be working on MSP aircraft. \r\nNote: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in the Aviation Machinist Mate classification or Aviation, Aerospace Maintenance, or Aircraft Maintenance specialty codes in the Aviation Maintenance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.�\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Working in an FAA Part 135 or FAA Part 91 or similar military operation.�\r\n2. Working at an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification must possess a valid FAA Airframe and�Powerplant Mechanic license.\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the�operation of a motor vehicle, therefore, will be required to possess a motor�vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n1.\r\nApplicants for positions with the Department of Maryland State Police will be\r\nsubject to a complete criminal background investigation and a polygraph\r\nexamination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may\r\nbe grounds for rejection of the applicant. \r\n2. Some\r\npositions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the\r\nindividual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment,\r\napplicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify\r\nthe ability to perform the essential job functions. \r\n3. Employees\r\nin this classification are subject to call-in on a 24 hour basis, and\r\ntherefore, will be required to provide the employer with a phone number where\r\nthey can be reached. Working weekends and holidays is\r\nrequired.� Employee also subject to emergency call out.�This\r\nis an Emergency Essential Employee.\r\n4. Employees\r\nin this classification must have access to an automobile for use on official\r\nbusiness in the event a State vehicle cannot be provided. Standard mileage\r\nallowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle. \r\n5. Employees\r\nin this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance\r\nwith Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs\r\n. \r\n
