Please indicate your availability in the Employment Preferences section of the application.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position is responsible for:��\r\n• Providing primary health care services for youth\r\nat DJS facilities and shelter;��\r\n• Overseeing the DJS vaccination program for youth and assisting with\r\noutbreak and infection control;��\r\n• Assisting the DJS Medical Director as needed on quality assurance\r\nactivities, health initiatives, policy and protocol development, and special\r\nprojects.�\r\n\r\n\r\nAn employee in this\r\nclass\r\nexercises\r\nindependence of action and initiative.�\r\n\r\n\r\nThe\r\nincumbent must be on call on a rotating basis. Limited telework allowed.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse-Midwife.�\r\n\r\n\r\nNote:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife classification or�Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife�specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner\r\n\r\n\r\n• More than one year of experience providing primary care as a\r\nnurse practitioner to male and female adolescent patients�\r\n\r\n\r\n• Experience working in a correctional, residential, or\r\nschool-based setting�\r\n\r\n\r\n• Experience assisting with outbreaks, infection control, and/or\r\nvaccination programs�\r\n\r\n\r\n• Experience performing quality assurance activities�\r\n\r\n\r\n• Experience writing policy and procedures�\r\n\r\n\r\n• Experience with opioid overdose prevention and managing youth\r\nwith opioid use disorders�\r\n\r\n\r\n• to be in shared coverage for on-call duties after hours,\r\nand to travel to DJS facilities as needed�\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n
