\r\n\r\nThe Maryland\r\nDepartment of Agriculture is a department under Maryland's Executive\r\nBranch.� Formed in 1972 by the Maryland General Assembly to address the\r\nagriculture needs for the State of Maryland, the Department oversees and serves\r\nas a regulatory body for animal health, consumer services to include marketing and lab services,�plant and\r\npest management and resource conservation.� As the number one industry in\r\nMaryland, the diversity of agriculture programs in the State continues to\r\nexpand and grow.\r\nMDA's Vision\r\nAchieving excellence in programs\r\nand�services that preserve and protect agricultural resources and the\r\nenvironment, promote profitable agriculture and consumer confidence, and\r\nenhance the quality of life for all Marylanders.\r\n�MDA's Mission\r\nProviding�leadership and support to\r\nagriculture and the citizens of Maryland by conducting regulatory, service, and\r\neducational activities that assure consumer confidence, protect the\r\nenvironment, and promote agriculture.​\r\nThe�State Chemist program�has been in\r\ncontinuous operation since 1833. It regulates the sale and distribution of\r\npesticides, animal feeds, pet foods, fertilizers, compost, soil conditioners\r\nand agricultural liming materials in order to enhance and promote agricultural\r\nproduction; protect consumers, animals and the environment from unsafe\r\nproducts; ensure the sale of effective products and provide the regulated\r\nindustry with a competitive marketplace. Regulation is accomplished by product\r\nregistration, laboratory analyses, inspection, voluntary compliance and\r\nenforcement actions such as stop sale orders. In addition, individuals who are\r\ncomposting materials to be sold or distributed must demonstrate their\r\ncompetency by passing an exam at the department and becoming certified as a Compost\r\nFacility Operator.\r\nJoin our Team and make a difference!\r\nState\r\nChemist\r\n\r\n\r\n

GRADE\r\n7 – This position offers a salary range of $38,582.00-$60,852.00\r\nYearly/annually based on qualifications, agency authority, agency budget, pay\r\nequity, and hiring salary guidelines.� �\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

The\r\nmain purpose of the Office Clerk II position is to provide clerical, data\r\nentry, and troubleshooting duties for the State Chemist Section. The incumbent\r\nis responsible for entering payment and tonnage information in the State Chemist\r\noffice, pertinent to agricultural commodities.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Registration\r\nPayment Entry:\r\nEnters payment information for both new products and renewals. Determines if\r\nreceived fees match the number of products to be registered. Transfer the\r\nregistration documents to the individual responsible for entering product\r\ndetails. Troubleshoots payment-related problems within Salesforce and makes\r\ncorrections to the data.\r\nTonnage: Process tonnage\r\ninformation for the State Chemist section which includes entering submitted\r\ninformation, contacting registrants regarding discrepancies, updating database\r\nand filing tonnage reports. Reports extreme inaccuracies to Supervisor.\r\nBack-Up\r\nfor Invoice Processing:\r\n(A) Maintains fiscal records\r\nof purchases made by the program staff, including, but not limited to, purchases\r\norder, invoices, service contracts, instruments, etc.�\r\n(B) Organizes the above\r\nrecords in such a manner that they can be easily retrieved for an internal or�external\r\naudit. Organize files so they may be archived or destroyed according to the programs’\r\nDocument Disposal Schedule.� Monitor\r\ndesignated Invoices email for submitted fiscal records.\r\nOffice\r\nDuties:\r\nAnswer main telephone line. Directs calls to the appropriate person and answers\r\ngeneral questions. Respond to phone calls, e-mails and walk in with customers\r\nin a positive and professional manner. Assist registrants with online renewal\r\nrelated questions.\r\nPerforms\r\nother duties as required for the operation of the Program.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Completion of the\r\neighth grade.\r\nExperience: One year experience\r\nperforming clerical duties in an office environment.�\r\nNotes:\r\n1.\r\nAdditional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a\r\nyear-for-year basis for the required education.\r\n2.\r\nGraduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school\r\nequivalency certificate may be substituted for six months of the required\r\nexperience.\r\n3.\r\nSix months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as\r\nkeyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics\r\npresentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six\r\nmonths of the required experience.\r\n4. Candidates\r\nmay substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a\r\nnon-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative,\r\nClerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of\r\nwork on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

6 months’\r\nexperience in Salesforce CRM Enterprise Edition in a\r\ngovernment environment. \r\n6 months’\r\nexperience in recording payments, data entry of financial and reconciliation\r\ntransactions in Salesforce CRM Enterprise Edition\r\n6 months’\r\nexperience in supporting financial reporting\r\n6 months’\r\nexperience in customer service and using Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel,\r\nPowerPoint, and Google SharePoint\r\n6 months’\r\nexperience in answering phones and directing calls on a multiple phone line\r\nusing Microsoft Teams\r\n
