Main Purpose of Job

An Office Services Clerk is the full performance level of work performing diverse clerical duties which support agency operations and require the review, verification and interpretation of information in order to make determinations and resolve problems in accordance with policies, regulations and laws applicable to agency programs. Employees in this classification do not supervise.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Examples of Work:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nReviews, verifies and interprets information in records, applications and other documents by using knowledge of agency policies and procedures to determine if appropriate procedures have been followed and to resolve problems;\r\n\r\n\r\nProcesses and issues permits, licenses, vouchers, exemptions, invoices or other documents pertinent to agency programs and based on application of regulations and procedures to factual information;\r\n\r\n\r\nResponds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems relative to inaccurate or incomplete information and discrepancies in various records and documents being processed;\r\n\r\n\r\nExplains basis of determinations to workers in other offices and agencies, clients or their representatives and the general public;\r\n\r\n\r\nCollects fees, makes corrections to payments owed or due, posts fees and payments to accounts and keeps financial records not requiring knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting;\r\n\r\n\r\nAssembles and verifies data and compiles information in order to prepare routine statistical and status reports;\r\n\r\n\r\nUpdates and maintains files, logs, schedules, rosters and records;\r\n\r\n\r\nComposes routine correspondence to provide or request essential information, explain the status of requests and the procedures to be followed;\r\n\r\n\r\nRecommends changes in office procedures as necessary to improve office efficiency;\r\n\r\n\r\nUses computer software applications to enter, edit, validate, search, retrieve and update information and may design, edit or format reports, graphs and charts;\r\n\r\n\r\nMay type correspondence, reports, schedules and other material using a keyboard of a personal computer;\r\n\r\n\r\nPerforms other related duties.\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.\r\nEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: One year of experience performing clerical duties. \r\nNotes: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours of education at an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience. \r\n2. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience. \r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n•\tSix months of experience handling confidential documentation.\r\n•\tSix months of experience answering inquiries from internal and external customers.\r\n•\tSix months of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google email accounts.\r\n•\tSix months of experience drafting correspondence, data entry, and/or reports.\r\n\r\n

SELECTION PROCESS

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position. You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.� The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.� Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.\r\n\r\n\r\nFor education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.�\r\n
