POSITION DUTIES
The Comptroller of Maryland, Revenue administration division is seeking to hire a Revenue Examiner I for our processing sections within the division.\r\n\r\nA Revenue Examiner I is the entry level of work in tax assessments, collections, investigations and examinations, performing duties independently, as a member of an examination or collection team or providing professional taxpayer service assistance, within one or more of the specialized fields of revenue production, administered by the Comptroller of Maryland. Employees in this classification work in specialized fields that may include sales and use tax, admissions and amusement tax, income tax, withholding tax, motor vehicle fuel tax, alcohol and tobacco tax and any other revenue levy authorized by the legislature. Please be advised that regardless of the job function into which you are selected, some Revenue Examiner I positions require employees to rotate throughout various work sections. Other job duties may also apply. On the job training and resources to provide you with the knowledge necessary to perform the job will be given for all positions.�\r\n\r\n\r\nPLEASE NOTE:�\r\nMay be requested to work evenings and / or Saturdays during Tax Season. For the purpose of this statement, Tax\r\nSeason shall be defined as the period beginning January 15th and closing\r\nMay 15th.�\r\nAll Comptroller employees are prohibited from engaging in the following activities outside of work, even on their own time: Preparation of other taxpayers of federal or state income or estate tax returns or of any other tax return filed by the Comptroller. Bookkeeping for private clients when that information may be used to prepare any state or federal tax return. Working for private tax return companies that prepare any state or federal tax return.\r\n\r\nYou must be willing to work according to the conditions noted below to be eligible for these positions.�\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: Two years of experience involving one or more of the following areas: customer service, telecommunications, fiscal clerical or clerical related work.\r\nNOTES:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute additional education at an�accredited college or university at the rate of thirty credit hours for one year of the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military�service experience as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician�field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience preparing federal and/or state tax returns.\r\n Experience working in a call center.\r\n Additional customer service experience.\r\n Personal Computer experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
