MEPPI's Service Center Division (SCD) is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician – HVAC to provide service support, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC products and electro-mechanical equipment. In this role, you'll work directly with customers to perform installations, maintenance, testing, repairs, and technical support while helping ensure reliable operation of critical cooling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site customer service for IT Cooling products, including startup service, preventative and remedial maintenance, field modifications, and testing.

  • Perform field support and assistance with power equipment projects as required.

  • Troubleshoot refrigeration and electro-mechanical equipment using schematics, mechanical drawings, procedures, troubleshooting documents, and hand-held and computer-based test equipment.

  • Perform repairs or equipment replacements as necessary.

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC electrical, control systems, and engineering products.

  • Perform refrigerant system repair work, including leak detection, refrigerant reclamation, evacuation, and R410A charging.

  • Perform refrigerant-related tasks such as reclaiming, measuring, charging, pressure testing, and evacuating HVAC units.

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including third-party service organizations and end users.

  • Schedule technical sales and service support based on customer needs.

  • Schedule and provide emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.

  • Inspect and test returned products, components, and systems to determine defects and operational status.

  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of services provided.

  • Prepare required documentation related to installation, testing, repair, and customer support.

  • Submit accurate expense reports in a timely manner in accordance with Company policies.

  • Conduct business with MEPPI departments, customers, and suppliers in a timely and cooperative manner.

  • Further the goals and positive image of the Division through professional customer and business relationships.


  • Associate's Degree in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, or a related technical field with 2–5 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems, or equivalent education and experience.

  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems gained through experience or successful completion of technical training courses.

  • EPA Section 608 certification.

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with mechanical and electronic test equipment.

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and vendors.

  • Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, timekeeping systems, and expense reporting systems.
