Department Overview The Data Center SSD Firmware team develops advanced embedded firmware solutions for Micron’s next-generation storage products. The team focuses on delivering high-performance and reliable firmware for enterprise and cloud environments, working closely with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams. Position Overview As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will support the evaluation, development, testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware for next-generation memory controllers and Data Center Solid State Drives (SSD). You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve product development issues, triage failures, and isolate firmware and system-level issues. Responsibilities * Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for Data Center SSD controllers and memory systems * Analyze firmware behavior, troubleshoot failures, and perform root-cause analysis * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, reproduce, and resolve product issues * Contribute to firmware validation, integration, and performance optimization activities * Participate in code reviews, bug tracking, and continuous improvement of development processes Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience * Experience or academic background in embedded firmware development * Programming experience in Python and familiarity with at least one system-level language (e.g., C/C++) * Knowledge of scripting languages, development tools, and debugging environments * Ability to work in a multi-functional team and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications * Experience with storage systems (SSD, HDD) or interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS * Exposure to NAND flash or other non-volatile memory technologies * Knowledge of firmware debugging, failure analysis, and performance profiling * Experience with low-level programming (e.g., C, C++, assembly, Rust) * Exposure to embedded systems and interaction with hardware components The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay in for this position full-time is: 31.000,00 € - 54.000,00 € per year, with B2 CCNL Level. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the position.
