We are an innovative and rapidly expanding company seeking a highly skilled Sr. Global Mechanical Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize the mechanical supply chain on a global scale. In this critical role, you will manage the sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationships for mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and materials used in our products. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Development, and Manufacturing teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of mechanical parts while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in mechanical supply chain management, manufacturing processes across a broad spectrum, raw materials knowledge, mechanical engineering design experience, manufacturing engineering experience, deep knowledge of global sourcing practices, can determine if a supplier is good with in 5 minutes of being on the shop floor, and a proven track record of managing suppliers across diverse geographies. 

Responsibilities

  • Global Sourcing & Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and manage global suppliers for mechanical components, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Oversee designs, drawings, offer DFM for different manufacturing methods and designs, review the manufacturing process to maximize the quality, capacity and efficiency, while driving cost down.
  • End-to-End Supply Chain Management: Oversee the entire mechanical supply chain process, from supplier selection through to delivery. Ensure the efficient flow of mechanical parts from suppliers to production facilities.
  • Cost Optimization & Negotiation: Lead cost reduction initiatives, drive negotiations with suppliers, and secure favorable terms to optimize the cost of mechanical components. Continuously seek opportunities to streamline the supply chain and reduce overall costs.
  • Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and execute supply chain strategies that align with product development, manufacturing, and business goals. Ensure that mechanical components are sourced and delivered on time to meet production schedules.
  • Collaboration with Engineering & Manufacturing: Partner with Engineering and Product Development teams to ensure that mechanical components meet design specifications, performance requirements, and manufacturability. Own sourcing decisions during the product design phase.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Monitor supplier performance against key metrics such as quality, lead times, and cost. Conduct regular reviews with suppliers to address performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including potential disruptions, material shortages, and capacity constraints. Develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Logistics & Inventory Management: Work with logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of mechanical components. Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure that all sourcing and supply chain activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and sustainability initiatives. Promote environmentally responsible practices within the mechanical supply chain.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or sourcing, with a focus on mechanical components or manufacturing. Experience in global sourcing and managing a diverse supplier base is essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, casting, and assembly. Knowledge of mechanical design and material science.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage complex, global supplier networks and ensure high-performance standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using data analysis tools to drive decision-making, manage supplier performance, and track key supply chain metrics (e.g., cost, quality, lead time).
  • Global Perspective: In-depth knowledge of global supply markets, trade regulations, and logistics management for mechanical components. Experience navigating cultural differences and managing cross-border relationships.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, ISM) are a plus.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally (20-30%) to manage supplier relationships, production, demand planning, quality, OTD at global manufacturing sites.
