Performs independent complex professional support to the University research enterprise by providing services in Pre/Post-Award Administration, Research Compliance and Training, and Research Administrative Service; serves as a resource for the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering for research proposals for budgets; assists in all aspects of the preparation of internally and externally funded research projects; works with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Contracts and Grants Administration to carry out aspects of research proposal submission, revision and awards; works with other universities, federal and sate government, foundations, and industries; reviews solicitations and develops grant budgets; reviews proposals to ensure compliance with sponsoring agency regulations and Universities policies and procedures; develops and coordinates multiple projects with accounting support; performs other administrative duties as needed.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business administration, Finance, or a research-related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration including the area of pre- or post-award processes, or related field such as regulatory administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This job requires completion of Essentials of Research Administration (MSU Certificate) or equivalent within one year of hire. 

 

 

Four year degree in business or accounting preferred. Experience supporting pre and post-award research administration, including budgets, expenditures, grants, contracts, cost sharing, or project closeouts. Knowledge of research requirements and experience with financial or research administration systems, such as EBS, Kuali, Business Intelligence, or comparable systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines, maintain accurate records, exercise sound judgment, and work collaboratively. Research administration training or certification is preferred.
