The Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) is a volunteer service within the McMaster Students Union that will walk or bus with users during the evening hours, 7 days a week.


The SWHAT Walker is responsible for providing attendance to those wishing accompaniment while walking on and off campus within the boundaries. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to walk/stand for long periods of time 
  • Skills in verbal communication 
  • Organization and time management skills 
  • Teamwork 
  • Punctual 

Effort & Responsibility

  • Responsible for providing accompaniment for requested walks 
  • Responsible for maintaining an appropriate and positive image of the MSU 


Working Conditions

  • Late evenings 
  • Walking/standing for long periods of time 
  • Walking long distances and in unpleasant weather 
  • Working conditions vary

Training and Experience

  • Participation in SWHAT Walker training

Equipment

  • Radio 
  • Flashlight
