We are seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join our IT Team. The Cyber Security Specialist will support daily cybersecurity operations by monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and supporting compliance activities across office, cloud, and vessel environments. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with strong analytical skills who thrives in a dynamic and technology-driven environment.
Reporting directly to the IT Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Security Monitoring, Incident Response & Vulnerability Management
- Monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts and suspicious activities across office, cloud, and vessel environments using various monitoring tools.
- Investigate security incidents and coordinate response, remediation, and vulnerability management activities with internal IT teams and external partners.
- Maintain incident documentation and monitor cybersecurity threats.
Security Governance, Compliance & Awareness
- Support the implementation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in security audits, assessments, penetration tests, and remediation tracking activities while maintaining cybersecurity documentation and operational records.
- Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives and provide guidance on secure IT practices to office and vessel personnel.
- Participate in compliance activities related to cybersecurity frameworks, maritime cybersecurity requirements like TISAX, ISO 27001, and internal security policies.
Security Improvement & Technical Projects
- Participate in infrastructure and cloud projects to ensure cybersecurity best practices and security-by-design principles are applied.
- Recommend improvements related to data protection, user access control, monitoring, and overall cybersecurity operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity operations, security administration, or IT security-related roles.
- Strong understanding of security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management processes, firewall and network security and endpoint protection platforms.
- Familiarity with MDR/SIEM technologies and cybersecurity frameworks
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Darktrace, Sophos, Palo Alto, Microsoft Security solutions, and Azure/Microsoft 365 security services.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, SC-200, CISSP, or equivalent will be considered an advantage.
Skills
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Availability and flexibility to support cybersecurity operations in a 24/7 business environment when required.
