VISION:


At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honour the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally and internationally for generations to come.


SCOPE


The Event Coordinator will lead all aspects of event planning, logistics, and budgets for assigned events. Events may include, but are not limited to, the annual She is Wise Conference, ONWA’s Annual General Assembly, MMIWG Pow Wow, and the Annual All-Staff training. The events coordinator will support interdisciplinary teams in planning and executing events and/or campaigns as assigned. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and reporting event progress and budgets and provide post-event analysis and reporting.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business, event planning or another relevant field with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination, and execution of large events.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong communicator – with excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and organization skills, with the ability to multi-task under little supervision.
  • Solution oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with financial planning to budget and manage event costs.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently or part of a team.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams, specifically in supporting and guiding others during planning, coordinating, and executing events.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge and experience working for not-for-profit organizations
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Indigenous women and their families.
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class drivers license.
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
  • Cellular phones and internet access are required within this position.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.

The full salary range for this role is $56,400 - $69,405. ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
