Multi-Skilled Timber Production Operative

Optime Group are excited to be recruiting for Multi-Skilled Timber Production Operative to join one of our well-respected and successful clients in Partridge Green. This is a very enjoyable role with a great company providing fantastic working conditions and facilities.

• Rate of Pay: £16.83 to £18.55 per hour depending on skill and machine experience e.g. CNC
• Shift Times: 3 day shifts, 3 days off, 3 night shifts, 3 days off
• Hours: 12 hour shifts, Day shift 05:55 to 18:00 and night shift 17:55 to 06:00, including a 5 minute handover at the start of each shift.
• Location: Partridge Green

To manufacture bespoke timber products safely, accurately and efficiently as part of the Unit 24 continuous operating model, while protecting product specification, quality and customer delivery.

You will work flexibly across tasks within your formally assessed competency level, maintain your skills through regular use and contribute to a reliable, well-organised and supportive shift team.

• →To carry out activities, including bench-based and supporting tasks, in line with job cards, drawings, process instructions, quality requirements and safe systems of work.
• →The role supports extended operating hours and more continuous production by providing reliable attendance, flexibility between tasks, effective shift handovers and practical use of trained and signed-off skills.
• →Attend and contribute to the 5 minute handover at the start of every shift, understanding work in progress, priorities, safety matters, quality concerns, equipment issues and material shortages.
• →Complete allocated production work safely, accurately and efficiently using benches, equipment and work areas correctly.
• →Follow job cards, drawings, specifications, process instructions, quality standards and site rules at all times.
• →Work only within trained and formally signed-off competency levels, and maintain those skills through regular practical use.
• →Rotate between appropriate tasks to support production flow, operational flexibility and continued competence.
• →Carry out required checks, identify defects or hold points, and raise safety, quality, material, equipment or information issues promptly.
• →Support production priorities and customer-critical work as directed by the Senior Shift Team Leader or Production Management team.
• →Take paid breaks only at nominated times, return on time and follow any staggered break arrangements. Smoking is permitted only during nominated breaks and in the designated smoking area.
• →Maintain a clean, organised and safe workplace and support good housekeeping throughout the shift.
• →Support colleagues, training, multi-skilling and continuous improvement activities.
• →Contribute to clear end-of-shift communication so that work can continue safely and effectively.

• Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a joinery, timber or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing, production, joinery or similar operational environment is desirable.
• Experience of following drawings, job cards, specifications or standard operating instructions is desirable.
• Practical experience relevant to bench work, machinery, equipment, material handling or quality checking is advantageous.
• Evidence of dependable attendance, safe working and consistent quality in a structured working environment.
• Experience of working flexibly across tasks or developing additional production skills is advantageous.
