Infrastructure Engineer
Quick Summary
Owning Kubernetes/EKS lifecycle management, including planning and executing cluster upgrades independently Inheriting, understanding,
Opto is engineering the future of private markets to improve client outcomes and drive capital to the most transformative ideas.
The opportunity is huge. The global alternative investments industry is forecast to grow to $30T by 2029, however the private investment process typically remains opaque, highly manual, and error-prone, which limits access to the select few insiders who are willing to bear the pain.
Opto is a revolutionary end-to-end solution for wealth managers of any size- from small investment advisors to large multi-family offices to private banks- to build, fundraise for, and manage private markets programs at scale. We combine exceptional Silicon Valley engineering talent with experienced investors and industry specialists to fix this broken system through the power of technology. Our platform banishes the nightmare of slide decks, spreadsheets, and paperwork to the past, and arms our clients with the tools, data, and guidance to identify and access the right opportunities for their clients.
Fixing private markets will not be easy and demands courage, but we’re not afraid to do things differently. We are unapologetically bold. We value strong opinions, clear communication, and purposeful execution.

About the Role
~1 min readWe're looking for a Principal AWS Infrastructure Engineer to own the technical strategy and hands-on execution of our AWS foundation, spanning EKS lifecycle management, multi-account architecture, and data governance controls. This is a high-leverage IC role for someone who has run Kubernetes in production at scale, thinks in terms of account boundaries and blast radius, and understands that data governance is now an infrastructure problem as much as a compliance one.
You'll be a technical authority on how we structure, secure, and evolve our AWS estate, partnering closely with Security, Compliance, and Data teams to make sure our infrastructure decisions hold up under audit (SOC 2 / FedRAMP-adjacent requirements) as well as under load. As Opto scales, this role will play a critical part in building infrastructure that grows with us.
- Owning Kubernetes/EKS lifecycle management, including planning and executing cluster upgrades independently
- Inheriting, understanding, and improving our existing Terraform-based infrastructure as code at scale
- Supporting and evolving our AWS enterprise networking setup and multi-account architecture
- Partnering with Security, Compliance, and Data teams to ensure infrastructure decisions meet audit and governance requirements (SOC2 / FedRAMP-adjacent)
- Scaling our infrastructure to support Opto's growth, building on our existing architecture
- Coordinating with business stakeholders to administer and facilitate hosted infrastructure needs
- Supporting broader platform reliability initiatives
- Deep Kubernetes/EKS experience, with the ability to own version upgrades independently
- Terraform/IaC proficiency at scale (Pulumi experience a plus)
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including enterprise networking, containers, and multi-AZ deployments
- Strong operational competence with Linux systems and shell scripting
- Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows
- Compliance and security posture experience, including SOC2, access management (Okta/IAM), and audit readiness
- Comfort operating in a high-trust, interrupt-driven environment at a startup or similarly fast-paced organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Familiarity with Opto's broader tech stack (React/Next.js TypeScript, Python and Java REST APIs, Snowflake, Datadog)
- Experience in regulated industries such as fintech, wealth management, banking/payments, or healthcare
- Familiarity with ISO 27001
- 6+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering role; staff-level or subject-matter-expert depth preferred
- Comparable backgrounds include Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, SRE, or DevOps Engineer
- Track record operating in a high-trust, interrupt-driven environment at a startup or similarly fast-paced organization
- Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
