  We are seeking a PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR to join the Orvis Team!  This is an on-site position at our Rod Shop in Manchester, VT.   The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations for their department. This role ensures production meets quoted standard costs, quality requirements, and delivery schedules while actively managing and reducing scrap rates. The supervisor provides hands-on leadership, drives continuous improvement, and maintains a safe, efficient production environment.   For more than 165 years the Orvis name has stood for outdoor traditions, quality, and customer satisfaction. We need to strive for perfection in our products and customer service, to propel our growth and the pride that will fuel our team.   Position Interfaces: This position will report to Director of Manufacturing, will collaborate with QA team and will interface with rod shop management team.   Responsibilities:   Production & Cost Control Develop & Execute daily production plans to meet output, labor, and efficiency targets Ensure fly rod sections are built to quoted standard costs Monitor labor hours, material usage, and cycle times; take corrective action when variances occur Partner with engineering and management to improve routings, standards, and processes   Scrap & Quality Management Work with Systems Analyst/Engineering to track, analyze, and reduce scrap and rework rates Develop and Ensure compliance with work instructions, specifications, and quality standards Support inspections and audits as required   Leadership & Team Development Supervise, train, and develop graphite production leads Assign work, balance workloads, and maintain cross-training within the department Enforce safety policies, housekeeping standards, and attendance expectations Foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement mindset Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve throughput, consistency, and material utilization Lead or support lean initiatives, process improvements, and cost-reduction efforts Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues   Competencies and Requirements:     High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and coach team members effectively. Working knowledge of  MS365, Teams. Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound decisions under pressure.
