Our department unites Accounting, Controlling, and Performance Management across Daimler Truck globally. We deliver key financial insights to support the Board of Management and the Supervisory Board, enabling value-driven decision-making. In doing so, we closely support the CFO in navigating a complex and demanding environment.
As Head of Group Controlling at Daimler Truck, you are responsible for ensuring consistent and transparent financial planning and forecasting at the consolidated Group level. You oversee stakeholder-oriented reporting to the CFO, CEO, Board of Management, Supervisory Board and Audit Committee as well as external stakeholders, and ensure high-quality, transparent financial disclosures in annual and interim reports.
In addition, you drive the continuous development of methods, processes, and systems for Group financial management. This includes defining performance targets and ensuring robust performance tracking at both Group and segment levels.
Your area of responsibility also covers warranty and goodwill provisions, including the establishment of accurate and transparent warranty rates as a basis for provisioning.
Furthermore, you are accountable for the Group Risk Management process, including the underlying tools and methodologies. You also oversee participation management for key shareholdings at Group level in areas such as Autonomous Driving, Software, and Hydrogen.
In this context, you act as the financial gatekeeper in M&A transactions and play a key role in evaluating business cases.
As part of a diverse team in an international environment, you enable and ensure collaboration, communication, and necessary coordination between all teams. You will work at our headquarters, the Daimler Truck Campus in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, and report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer & Head of Corporate Controlling.
- Leading the Group Controlling department of Daimler Truck with currently 10 direct reports and a total of ~40 employees
- Leading, motivating, and promoting the assigned employees, ensuring targeted internal communication, employee- and task-related qualification and the achievement of agreed goals
- Taking responsibility for strategic and mid-term planning, operational budgeting, forecasts, simulations and actuals reporting incl. process responsibility for the integrated global planning of the Group (i.e. content, quality, systems, and timeline)
- Developing a consolidated Group plan for Daimler Truck encompassing financial and non-financial KPIs, including risk scenarios and a comprehensive risk map. Ensuring full transparency and translating insights into clear, target-oriented management guidance. Formulating actionable recommendations and preparing decision-ready materials for CFO briefings and for Board of Management, Supervisory Board, and Audit Committee meetings
- Actively shaping Daimler Truck’s external reporting in annual and quarterly reports in close coordination with Investor Relations, Accounting, and Corporate Communications. Providing reliable, consistent, and decision-relevant consolidated financial information for rating discussions, the Annual General Meeting, quarterly and annual results presentations, as well as investor and employee engagements, industry events (e.g., IAA), and ad hoc inquiries
- Preparing Q&As to support external communication, as well as providing the factbook and relevant reports in connection with annual and interim reporting. Ensuring timely and accurate submissions to the German Stock Exchange, BaFin, and the commercial register, and coordinating the delivery of required statistical reports
- Analyzing and transparently presenting Daimler Truck’s business performance in both actuals and planning. Conducting internal benchmarking and identifying best-practice approaches. Deriving areas for action and providing clear recommendations to management
- Determining warranty and goodwill rates as source for warranty provisions based on current damage rates, expected costs for damage repair and working hours for major group companies. Analyzing and transparently preparing the warranty development of Daimler Truck in actual and planning. Deriving need for action and providing recommendations to management
- Acting as Finance lead for M&A projects and strategic initiatives — primarily for large-scale Board of Management topics — including the preparation and critical review of business cases, valuations, and the coordination of all finance-related topics with Accounting, Treasury, and Tax
- Overseeing participation management for all central shareholdings, including the regular review of business plans, financial statements, and overall business performance. Preparing shareholder-relevant materials for board meetings and maintaining close interaction with the management teams of participations to discuss key financial topics and build trusted relationships
- Coordinating and executing regular impairment tests for the Daimler Truck Group’s CGUs as well as major participations, including the preparation of comprehensive and audit-ready documentation for management and external auditors
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable group and site regulations/provisions (safety and environmental protection regulations, working time regulations, guidelines, etc.) for the assigned area of responsibility, as well as the established processes (according to the applicable regulations/documents)
- In this function, you report to the Chief Accounting Officer & Head of Corporate Controlling
What We Offer
~1 min read- Master’s degree in Business Administration (university, university of applied sciences, or comparable qualification)
- Several years of leadership experience within Controlling, with a strong focus on methods, processes, and instruments, combined with solid accounting expertise and operational experience in both decentralized and central environments
- Proven experience in transaction-related projects, including exposure to legal aspects and company valuation (preferred)
- Inspiring leadership style with a persuasive personality and excellent communication skills
- High level of trustworthiness, empathy, and confidence in interacting with stakeholders across all hierarchy levels
- Strong team orientation, flexibility, and openness to new and complex topics, combined with a confident and assertive presence
- High resilience and ability to perform under pressure
- Strong conceptual and analytical capabilities with a structured and strategic mindset
- High level of self-motivation and a strong solution-oriented approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English, with a proven ability to create clear, compelling presentations and impactful storytelling
