PND Engineers is seeking a Waterfront Structural Engineer to join our Seattle team designing complex marine and coastal infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving challenging structural problems, developing practical waterfront solutions, and delivering designs that perform in the field.

At PND, you’ll work on ports, terminals, ferry facilities, industrial waterfronts, and coastal infrastructure alongside experienced engineers who value technical excellence, constructability, and high-quality design. We’re looking for a technically strong and detail-oriented engineer who takes pride in practical engineering and seeing projects successfully built in demanding marine environments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform structural analysis and design for waterfront and marine infrastructure projects, including:
    • Bulkheads and retaining structures
    • Mooring and berthing systems
    • Piers, docks, and marine terminals
    • Breakwaters and coastal protection systems
    • Heavy civil and industrial waterfront structures
  • Develop complete, coordinated, and buildable engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Take ownership of structural design tasks from concept development through final construction documents.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and owners to support efficient project delivery and construction execution.
  • Support field investigations, condition assessments, construction services, and site visits as needed.
  • Apply current industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices to solve complex waterfront design challenges.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited program. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Washington P.E. License, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, design, and preparation of engineering document packages.
  • Exposure to geotechnical engineering is helpful and considered a plus.
  • Experience designing waterfront, marine, industrial, or heavy civil structures preferred.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA-3D, SAP2000, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit in the development of engineering drawing packages.
  • Strong understanding of structural loads, load paths, design codes, specifications, contract documents, and constructability.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for fieldwork.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
