Responsible for the management and administration of tooling processes, in concert with Tooling Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support, enforce and maintain safety-first culture.
- Assist with print plate checks.
- Coordinate repairs to Cutting Die and Print Plates with Die Room and DieCo repair group.
- Act as a liaison between the Customer Service and Tooling Department to confirm tooling specifications, to resolve any issues and/or to address any Customer complaints.
- Assist Tooling Manager and Coordinator in completing daily required functions.
- Maintain communication between shifts and confirm each shift has the ink and tooling resources required to support the Converting Department.
- Support Ink Kitchen staff and validate that Ink is being properly recycled or combined as required.
- Assist with new items and trial runs as required.
- Manage and provide absentee coverage across Tooling Department.
- Audit red tag procedure sign offs, Machine Center tooling quality, and Band Type usage to confirm compliance with required procedures.
- Track and perform daily checks on red tagged tooling to ensure timely repairs.
- Investigate and record print plate and cutting die damage and perform corrective action analysis.
- Support purge list requirements, in concert with Customer Service and Tooling Manager, to ensure old tooling is reported and if needed, replaced.
- Maintain fair and consistent performance standards and talent and performance management practices.
- Comply and enforce all company policies and procedures, including the Pratt Employee Handbook.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Preferred
- Experience in a Corrugated Box Facility, working with Cutting Dies, Print Plates or Printing Presses, Ink or paint mixing systems.
SCHEDULE
This position requires scheduling availability for weekends, holidays, and after-hours support as needed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the Lead Person is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The Lead Person frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Lead Person is occasionally required to sit. The Lead Person must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the Lead Person is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Lead Person is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The Lead Person is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
