The group investigates the genetic causes of underlying rare, mostly neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases using a range of genomic and functional approaches. The research group also explores targeted therapies for neuromuscular diseases, in particular congenital myopathies.
About the Role
~1 min read- Contribute to a functional genomics research program focused on rare neurogenetic and neuromuscular diseases, working both collaboratively and independently to support discovery and translational outcomes
- Design, conduct and/or support laboratory-based experiments, including data generation, analysis and interpretation, contributing to high-quality research outputs such as publications and presentations
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the broader research environment through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and participation in team, School and external activities
- PhD in an academic field such as human genetics, cell biology or molecular biology or other related discipline.
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge and developing expertise in human genetics, cell biology or molecular biology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to participating in high‑quality research as part of a collaborative research team, including contributing to peer‑reviewed publications in respected scholarly journals.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels, contributing positively to an inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplace environment and supporting principles of equity and diversity.
- Demonstrated experience in human genetics and functional genomics research, with a growing independent research profile evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications in high‑quality journals, relative to opportunity.
- A demonstrable emerging track record of successful competitive funding.
- Experience supervising research students and staff.
- Demonstrable experience of participation in research leadership in engagements that promote and contribute to the research community
