Working Hours: Full time / Part time
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a dynamic team in a major trauma hospital in East London. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of acute adult settings, including general medical and neurosciences wards, supporting patients with complex communication and swallowing needs.
You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with acquired communication deficits and complex dysphagia. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to patient recovery and rehabilitation in a fast-paced acute environment.
Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital setting.
• Provide specialist intervention for patients with complex dysphagia and acquired communication impairments.
• Work across general medical and neurosciences wards as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and patient reviews.
Requirements

• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Proven experience working with acute adult patients.
• Experience managing complex dysphagia and acquired communication disorders.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilated patients.
• Competency in Videofluoroscopy and/or FEES.
