Responsibilities
~1 min readThe Consultant will provide expert psychiatric care across the hospital, including assessments for patients in A&E, medical, surgical, and psychiatric wards. Key duties include attending ward reviews, MDT meetings, and CPA meetings, as well as managing referrals and follow-up investigations. The consultant will also contribute to patient care by ensuring the appropriate prescribing and documentation through electronic systems, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to support discharge planning and continuity of care. The role requires collaboration with medical and nursing staff, offering crisis intervention when needed, and providing guidance to patients and families. The consultant will also supervise junior staff and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the service. Essential qualifications include a medical degree, specialist psychiatry training, and experience in liaison psychiatry or mental health crisis settings, with proficiency in electronic prescribing and patient management systems.
