What We Offer
~1 min readWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of low-voltage power distribution equipment, specifically switchgear assemblies built to UL 891 standards. This role focuses on creating detailed mechanical designs that are compliant, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements.
This is a hands-on engineering position requiring prior experience with switchgear design, strong CAD capabilities, and close coordination with electrical engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Create mechanical layouts and detailed designs for low-voltage switchgear assemblies in compliance with UL 891
- Design enclosures, internal structures, breaker mounting systems, and cable routing solutions
- Generate complete fabrication packages including general arrangement drawings, sheet metal details, weldments, and bills of materials
- Work alongside electrical engineers to align mechanical designs with system requirements such as one-line diagrams, bus configurations, and cable management
- Participate in design reviews to address spacing, interference, and maintainability considerations
- Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, internal standards, and manufacturing capabilities
- Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles
- Provide support during fabrication, testing, and inspection phases
- Assist with resolving production issues and improving overall efficiency
- Contribute to cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
- Manage design deliverables in a deadline-driven environment
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of engineering documentation
- Travel occasionally for project coordination or supplier support
This opportunity offers the chance to work on complex electrical distribution systems in a technically focused environment. It is well-suited for engineers who enjoy hands-on design work, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering practical solutions in a production setting.
