About the Role

We are looking for dedicated Speech Pathologists to join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) and make a genuine difference to patients navigating aged care and rehabilitation in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

You will work within a collaborative allied health team to deliver evidence-based speech pathology services across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of communication and swallowing disorders 
  • Developing and implementing individualised management plans in partnership with patients, families, and the broader multidisciplinary team
  • Providing clinical education and guidance to nursing and allied health colleagues on dysphagia management and communication strategies
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with SA Health standards

Opportunities are available across a range of settings within the Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division (ACRPC). As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of services, supporting your professional development, broadening your skills and experience, and enjoying variety in your day-to-day work. You will be part of a large and supportive Speech Pathology team who service the following areas: 

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation: three rehabilitation wards at Modbury Hospital 
  • Day Rehabilitation Service: outpatient rehabilitation located in the SpARC building, adjacent to Modbury Hospital
  • Rehabilitation in the Home: community rehabilitation with offices located adjacent to Modbury Hospital
  • Inpatient Geriatrics: two wards at Modbury Hospital
  • Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE): located at Lyell McEwin Hospital 
  • Northern Reablement and Intermediate Care to Return Home (NRICH): located adjacent to Lyell McEwin Hospital 
  • Older Adults Supportive Interim Stay (OASIS) unit: located at Lyell McEwin Hospital  
What You Will Bring
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in dysphagia assessment and management, including videofluoroscopy or FEES where applicable
  • Experience working with aged care or rehabilitation patient populations
  • Sound knowledge of SA Health or Local Health Network clinical governance frameworks and documentation requirements
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly with patients, carers, and colleagues
  • A current driver's licence, as service delivery may extend across NALHN sites
  • Willingness to work across clinical rotations including a 7-day roster and ability to adapt to varied clinical environments

To be eligible for this position, you must have an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
