A leading import and distribution firm seeks an External Sales Business Development Manager to grow their business. This role suits a high-output "hunter" who excels at navigating the full sales lifecycle, from identifying untapped opportunities to closing high-value agreements that sustain the organisation's growth. Key Responsibilities Business Development: Proactively identify and engage potential B2B clients to build a robust pipeline of new business opportunities. Strategic Account Management: Act as the primary point of contact for new and evolving accounts, ensuring seamless onboarding and long-term value delivery. Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to position the Client’s import portfolio effectively within the South African market. Client Engagement: Conduct professional on-site consultations and product demonstrations to showcase the technical and commercial advantages of the Client's offerings. Sales Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, conversions, and revenue targets to support executive decision-making. Requirements Minimum of 5 years’ experience in external sales or business development, specifically within an import, wholesale, or distribution environment. Proven history of meeting and exceeding aggressive sales targets and successfully "hunting" for new business. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate at a senior management level. A valid South African Driver’s Licence is essential for frequent client site visits. A self-motivated, collaborative professional with a resilient approach to business development. Required Software Skills: CRM Proficiency (e.g., Zoho CRM, Salesforce, or similar) Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel and PowerPoint for client presentations) Virtual Meeting Platforms (Microsoft Teams/Google Meet/Zoom) Benefits Comprehensive travel support: Choice of a fuel allowance or a dedicated company vehicle for professional use.
