Bookkeeper

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper with a background in an accounting or auditing firm for our client in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, and supporting the preparation of financial reports for a portfolio of clients. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients Process journals, invoices, receipts, and payments Perform bank, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations Prepare monthly management accounts and trial balances Assist with VAT returns, payroll processing, and statutory submissions Support month-end and year-end closing processes Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies Liaise with auditors, clients, and internal stakeholders Maintain organised financial filing systems (digital and physical) Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records Requirements Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience: Minimum 2–4 years’ bookkeeping experience within an accounting or audit firm (essential) Experience handling multiple client accounts preferred
