Overview:
The Finance Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the finance department, ensuring accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day accounting activities. This role focuses on data entry, reconciliations, invoicing, and supporting financial reporting processes. The assistant works closely with finance officers and management to maintain financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and organisational ability are essential for success in this role.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support daily finance operations: Assist with routine accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
- Assist with invoicing and payments: Prepare invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain financial records: Organise and update financial documents, ensuring accuracy and proper filing.
- Support budgeting and reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports, summaries, and budget tracking documents.
- Process expense claims: Review and process staff expenses in line with company policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with finance, HR, and operations teams to resolve financial queries.
- Support audits and compliance: Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality: Handle financial information securely and maintain high standards of accuracy.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or finance software.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting support role is an advantage.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero).
- Experience working in fast-paced or remote environments.
