CITY OF RICHMOND HEIGHTS

POSITION TITLE: Recreation Leader - Part Time

REPORTS TO: Recreation Manager

SUPERVISES: Part Time Recreation Aides

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for front desk operations. Assists with servicing the general public at the front desk in an efficient and courteous manner with regard to registration for programs and membership sales, facility usage, preparing photo ID's, answering the telephone, issuing equipment and other assignments deemed necessary to perform the job.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:
1. Serves as Supervisor on Duty in the absence of full-time building staff.
2. Understands and enforces policies & procedures governing facility use and emergencies.
3. Operates computer point of sales, registration, and credit card machine.
4. Performs opening and closing register procedures in an efficient and orderly manner.
5. Provides customer service to the general public in a professional manner.
6. Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
7. Disseminates information about programs, special events, facility memberships, policies and procedures in a courteous and effective manner.
8. Answers the telephone in a professional manner.
9. Responsible for the sale of I.D.'s, point of sale items and program registration.
10. Performs computer data entry and other front desk responsibilities as assigned.
11. Maintains work areas in a clean and organized manner.
12. Informs supervisor of all information regarding the facility, staff and general public.
13. Notifies supervisor of supply needs or equipment repair.
14. Attends all staff meetings and training as required.

Marginal Functions:
1. Performs special projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of this job.
1. Sitting, talking, hearing, walking.
2. Concentrated mental and visual attention with normal hand – eye coordination required.
3. Clarity of vision at 20 inches – corrected or uncorrected.
4. Occasional moving of 1 to 60 lb. items.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Normal office conditions with some exposure to varied weather conditions.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. 30 – 60 college credit hours preferred.

Experience: One year combined customer service experience and supervisor training preferred with at least 3 months experience at THE HEIGHTS or with a RecTrac operated facility.

1. Ability to supervise staff and facility operations.
2. Ability to handle emergency situations.
3. Must maintain proper appearance and behavior.
4. Ability to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers and public.
5. Ability to be trained on new techniques and jobs.
6. Ability to function efficiently under stress related factors consistent with the position.
7. Ability to work days, evenings and weekends.
8. Must be able to handle large sums of money and keep accurate records.
9. Must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Personal computer and associated software. Normal office equipment. Photo identification and camera system. CATV security and alarm system. Fitness equipment, concession and kitchen equipment.
