Rush Street Interactive (RSI) is seeking an experienced, visionary, and hands-on Vice President, Software Engineering, to lead and scale our global engineering organization. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for modernizing our technology platforms through best-in-class software development practices, AI-enabled delivery, and a modern, scalable architecture.

This leader will serve as a trusted partner and advisor to the executive team. The preferred candidate will be located in Estonia, but we are also open to candidates where we have hiring entities across Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering strategy, execution, and transformation in close partnership with the CTO and senior leadership.
  • Architect and scale highly available, high-performance platforms using modern cloud-native and microservices architectures.
  • Drive an AI-powered productivity transformation, introducing AI-assisted development tools and workflows across engineering teams.
  • Set and deliver engineering excellence standards across CI/CD, observability, incident response, technical debt reduction, and operational KPIs in alignment with our Platform Engineering strategy.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, globally distributed engineering organization and senior leadership team.
  • Drive a culture of velocity and quality focused on a stellar user experience for our players: mentor engineering leaders, and encourage innovation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Security, Operations, and business leaders to align technology strategy with company objectives.
  • Stay connected to the work through hands-on engagement in architecture, code quality, and critical production initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading large, distributed engineering teams in complex or high-growth environments.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and APIs.
  • Experience leading large-scale platform modernization; AI/GenAI experience strongly preferred.
  • Track record of improving engineering productivity, accelerating delivery, and driving operational excellence.
  • Strategic yet hands-on leadership style with a strong bias for action.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills, including experience working with executive stakeholders.
  • High-energy, empathetic leader who is visible, approachable, and inspiring.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% annually. #LI-HYBRID #LI-PROMOTE
