PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Accountant to strengthen the Monaco Voyage Accounting function. The role is responsible for overseeing critical financial controls, voyage accounting accuracy and coordination of quarterly and yearly closings across multiple legal entities.

The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, robust understanding of controls and close interaction with Voyage Controlling, Operations, IT and other accounting teams.


Financial Controls & Period Close

  • Perform key monthly and quarterly financial controls, including accruals, reconciliations with the operating system, and analytical reviews.
  • Prepare quarterly closing work files as per Scorpio procedures.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Senior Manager to prepare and review management reports for quarterly closings and IFRS annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and provide relevant information and support to the auditors.


Systems, Interfaces & Data Integrity

  • Act as a liaison with IT and system providers on accounting-related issues.
  • Regularly perform P/L checks of results versus the operation system and check completeness of vessel mappings and business rules.

 

Bank, Cash & Treasury Controls

  • Review bank reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  • Responsible for the approval of payments.

 

Pool Accounting & Intercompany Controls

  • Supervision and troubleshooting of intercompany reconciliations of balances and transactions with group entities.

 

Inventory & Bunker Controls

  • Prepare bunker reconciliation of actual versus posted quantities between ERP and operating system.
  • Ensure correct inventory valuation.
  • Prepare and review EU Allowance (EUA) inventory reconciliations and completeness checks.


Payables, Receivables & Insurance 

  • Oversee vendor and customer reviews, including ageing and trial balance alignment.
  • Review insurance schedules for fleet completeness and accuracy.

 

Stakeholder Coordination & Oversight

  • Act as a key point of contact between Voyage Accounting, and other functions.
  • Provide guidance, review and escalation support to the Voyage accounting team.
  • Ensure clear communication of issues, deadlines and required actions across departments.


EXPERIENCE

  • At least 6 years of experience in an accounting role is required.
  • Experience in shipping or pool accounting environments is an advantage.


COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in English (both spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of another language is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems; quick learner with the ability to understand system interconnections.
  • Knowledge of D365 and IMOS is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-volume accounting processes within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a high level of discipline in documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence working across multiple departments and locations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
