Work requires the ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate effectively with patients and staff, to locate destinations and follow transportation schedules, and the ability to keep daily transportation records - acquired through a high school education.
- 2 years of relevant driving work experience may be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma.
Work requires knowledge of Health System policies, procedures, and safety regulations regarding patient interactions, van/automobile repair and maintenance, and emergencies of a medical or psychiatric nature in transporting patients - acquired through one to three months' on-the-job experience with the Hospital.
Must possess valid Maryland driver's license and be eligible for a Sheppard Pratt driver’s license with acceptable driving record at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
- Individuals with 3 or more points on their driving record will not be considered for employment; individuals with other adverse past driving history (e.g., suspension or DUI) may not be considered.
