Job Description – CNC HMC Machinist Position: CNC HMC Machinist Location: Singapore Salary: Depends upon experience Experience: 3–6 Years preferred Position Overview The CNC HMC Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC Horizontal Machining Center (HMC) machines to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and production specifications. The role involves setting up machines, selecting appropriate tooling, monitoring machining processes, and ensuring that finished parts meet strict quality standards. The machinist must demonstrate strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain productivity while ensuring workplace safety. Key Responsibilities CNC Machine Operation Operate CNC Horizontal Machining Center (HMC) machines for precision component manufacturing. Perform machine setup, including workpiece clamping, tool installation, and program loading. Monitor machining operations to ensure smooth production and maintain quality standards. Adjust machine parameters such as speed, feed, and cutting depth to optimize machining efficiency. Machine Setup & Tooling Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments for machining operations. Perform machine calibration and alignment before production runs. Ensure proper tool offsets and tool life monitoring during machining operations. Programming & Process Understanding Read and interpret CNC programs (G-code / M-code) and understand machining sequences. Make minor edits to CNC programs when required to improve machining performance. Coordinate with CNC programmers or engineers for program optimization. Quality Control Inspect machined parts using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and bore gauges. Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards as per technical drawings. Identify defects and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform routine maintenance of CNC machines to ensure efficient operations. Diagnose and troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, vibration, or dimensional deviations. Report machine abnormalities or breakdowns to the maintenance team. Safety & Compliance Follow workplace safety procedures and CNC machine safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized work environment following 5S practices. Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturing standards, and quality guidelines. Essential Qualifications Diploma / ITI / Technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or related field. Minimum 3–6 years of experience operating CNC HMC machines in a manufacturing environment. Experience in precision machining or metal fabrication industry preferred. Required Skills Strong knowledge of CNC Horizontal Machining Center operations. Ability to read engineering drawings and technical blueprints. Familiarity with G-Code and M-Code CNC programming basics. Knowledge of cutting tools, tool offsets, and machining parameters. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments. Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) concepts. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
