Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with everyday daily activities.
  • Give quality care to ensure the safety and comfort of all patients.
  • Assist with feeding and ensuring residents take their medication.
  • Have a familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions.
  • Meet safety needs of patients and use equipment safety and properly.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, family members and staff at every level of the organization.
  • Be able to enter resident information into a computerized database, giving attention to details.
  • Demonstrate and maintain competence in all nurse aide skills required by SSMO infirmary policies.
  • Be comfortable working with elderly patients and those with special needs
  • Improve skills through continued training.

Qualifications:
  • Current CNA Certificate.
  • Understand HIPAA regulations for privacy.
  • Maintain and possess current CPR training and certificate.
  • Have basic dietary knowledge.
  • Be able work weekends on a rotation basis.
  • Able to pass an Oregon DHS background check.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including, patience, empathy and compassion
  • Effective communication, listening and reading skills, including the ability to speak English.

Physical Requirements:
  • Required to stand or walk for prolonged periods, especially when conducting facility tours or performing building rounds. 
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or move at least 50 pounds independently on occasion. 
  • May occasionally assist with patient transfers or evacuations, which can involve moving up to 200 pounds with assistance or equipment. 
  • Requires regular bending, stooping, reaching, and kneeling.
