Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-time, independent contractor Hours: Primarily asynchronous, with a few hours of morning US Eastern Time overlap Reports to: Founders
We are a real estate design-build and investment company specializing in high-end residential renovation. They acquire homes that need heavy rehabilitation, strip them down to the frame, and rebuild them into premium living spaces, managing the full process from permitting and material sourcing through skilled trades and finishes.
The business runs on two sides: a general-contracting and construction operation, and a real estate investment arm. That structure means the books span multiple entities — and the finances carry the specific demands of construction accounting, not general small-business bookkeeping. The company is founder-led, scaling, and currently active across New York and Vermont.
About the Role
~1 min readRight now, the founders are carrying the finance function themselves while running builds and sourcing deals. This role exists to take that off their plate entirely.
You will own day-to-day bookkeeping across multiple entities: keeping transactions categorized, accounts reconciled, clients invoiced, and payroll run — plus the construction-specific accounting that makes this role specialized: job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) tracking, retainage, progress billing, and subcontractor 1099s. Because much of this work is heads-down and internal, it can run largely on your own schedule, with the goal that the founders wake up to clean, current numbers. This is a specialized construction bookkeeping role — not administrative support.
